Bay Ridge Dog and Cat Hospital, Fifth Avenue, off 68th Street. Has been taking care of the neighborhood's animals for a very long time.

I brought my sweet cat that I found to this Animal hospital. I called a week before I was planning to bring him in for a checkup to make an appointment. I asked the price of a checkup and the receptionist said $50. I brought him in and the Dr which I will not name was very fast to tell me the problems that he had and would not really let me or my boyfriend ask any questions. He was quick to tell us to leave the room. We went in the waiting area for about 15 minutes. They brought the cat back and the receptionst let me know that my bill was about $300. He decided to perfrom many procedures with out my knowledge or without asking us. They cut his nails and one was bloody.. I am very unhappy. Then when I tried to ask a few simple questions to the receptionists about his medication and prices they treated me like an annoyance! (But I'm supposed to come right back for another 800+ dollar bill) I do not recomend this animal hospital to anyone.. Beware!
My mother has been bringing her cats to the vets at Bay Ridge Dog & Cat hospital since the late 60’s and I have brought my cats there since 1996. I have had two cats pass away last year both of cancer and I cannot thank Dr. Hollander and Dr. Pestanau enough for the care and commitment they have shown us during those times. They were always informative and at no time did they ever perform any type of procedure without my consent. I would highly recommend anyone to bring their animal there.
Bay Ridge Animal/Dog & Cat Hospital is where I have taken all my fur balls for YEARS. I have been to a few different vets and they do not compare to the care and 'bedside manner' provided by them. Dr. Hollander, Dr. Gentes, Dr. Nunemacher . . . great!
I've been using this place for about two years. Even though we find them overpriced, we wanted to bring out new cat in for a checkup. This cat was just adopted from a rescue service, and was given medication that just wasn't working. I called them first thing in the morning and explained that this cat was breathing through his mouth, was very congested and that I'd like to come in. I was told to go to downtown Brooklyn to get him help because this was a serious problem (!) I was shocked that me and my money were turned away.
I took my cat "Lisa" there when she was very ill and was told she had kidney cancer. three days later she passed away. The doctors there were very kind in my time of sorrow and even talked to me and tried to make me feel better. I have taken my other cat, "Cello" there as well and the staff are very friendly, helpful, and understanding. They always do a wonderful job and not only treat me great, but my pets as well.
